Heat Pipes

SPC heat pipes are the most effective passive heat transfer solution in HVAC — sealed copper tubes charged with refrigerant that deliver dehumidification and heat recovery with zero moving parts, no external power, and up to 30% net energy savings. Pioneered by S&P Coils Products Ltd. UK over 30 years ago and proven over 25000+ projects across the globe, SPC heat pipes are now manufactured by OCC in Dubai and validated in our own psychrometric R&D laboratory. Our latest innovation, the SPC Optima R410a Series, delivers +18.2% average efficiency over legacy R134a designs, while the new SPC Design Plus 3.0 (Beta) selection software gives business partners real-time performance data, drawings, and LME-linked quotations.

Heat Pipes

The most effective passive heat transfer method, heat pipes, consist of sealed, evacuated copper tubes charged with a working fluid. In HVAC applications, R134A is typically used.
Heat Pipes

Basic Operation

Heat pipes are constructed from copper tubes with micro-grooved inner surfaces for high thermal conductivity. The process follows a continuous cycle.
Evaporation

Evaporation: Heat from the warm air boils the working fluid in the evaporator

Vapour Travel

Vapour Travel: High pressure drives the vapour to the cooler condenser, carrying the heat

Condensation

Condensation: The vapour releases heat and reverts to liquid

Return

Return: Gravity pulls the liquid back to the evaporator to restart the cycle

Working Fluids – Refrigerant

For decades, refrigerant-based heat pipes have improved energy efficiency and provided substantial savings. By reducing the Sensible Heat Ratio (SHR) of HVAC equipment, they significantly enhance dehumidification performance.

Note: SPC heat pipes are manufactured with R410A refrigerant as the working fluid.

SPC Optima R410a Series

Our latest dehumidifying heat pipes, engineered with R410A refrigerant to deliver superior heat transfer and reliable year-round performance.

Redefined Performance

The Optima Series has been specifically developed to meet higher thermal loads and increased latent cooling demands in modern HVAC applications. Compared with conventional heat pipe designs, the Optima Series delivers faster energy transfer, improved moisture removal and more consistent coil performance.

Core Upgrades

Refrigerant Upgrade

Refrigerant Upgrade

The Optima Series replaces traditional R134a with high-density R410A refrigerant. Owing to its higher operating pressure and superior heat transfer properties, R410A provides significantly greater thermal capacity within the same coil footprint.

Selection Software – SPC Design Plus 3.0

SPC Design Plus 3.0 (Beta) is an optimised online selection tool featuring a striking new interface and upgraded workflow options for a seamless user experience. This comprehensive version provides consultants and contractors with detailed heat pipe performance data, psychrometric graphs, and dimensional drawings to ensure informed product selection across any project scale.

By utilising a modern API framework, the system delivers real-time quotations and integrates directly with the London Metal Exchange (LME) to provide transparent, up-to-date pricing that reflects raw material fluctuations. This ensures improved speed, stability, and accuracy throughout the estimating and bidding process.
